Zambia Northern Province (Photo Gallery)

On Monday, February 24th, I – along with my Zoona colleagues Teddy and Sharon – departed Lusaka for Zambia’s Northern Province.  Our first day was a 14-hour drive to Kasama to visit a Kiva borrower.  Our route took us within a few kilometers of the Congolese border.  After two nights in Kasama – and a quick diversion to Chishimba Falls – we took a “short cut” across a river on a small barge, and across 60 km of wet, muddy, torn up road through traditional villages.  After this harrowing section, we arrived in Nakonde on the Tanzanian border for another borrower visit.  On Thursday, we headed back to Lusaka – a 12-hour drive.  These are some of the shots I took with both my Nikon D5000 and iPhone 5 along our 2,200+ km journey.  Many were taken out of (or through) the window of our car at 150 kph.  As a result, the quality is not perfect, but I found the subject matter to be just that.
